Do it now.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you\u2019re aged 50 or over, you\u2019ll receive a free NHS bowel cancer screening kit in the post. It\u2019s quick, easy and can help detect early signs of cancer \u2013 even before you have symptoms. Most people get a normal result, which can put your mind at rest. But if something needs looking into, the sooner we act, the better.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Don\u2019t ignore it. Do the test. Get checked.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You don\u2019t have to be over 50 to get bowel cancer. It can affect people of all ages, and the earlier it\u2019s found, the easier it is to treat. So if you notice something unusual \u2013 talk to your GP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Know the signs and symptoms to be aware of at any age:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>A change in your normal bowel habits &#8211; such as needing to poo more often or feeling like you haven\u2019t emptied your bowels properly.<\/li>\n<li>Bleeding from your bottom and\/or blood in your poo.<\/li>\n<li>Losing weight when you haven\u2019t been trying to<\/li>\n<li>Frequent pain and\/or a lump in your tummy.<\/li>\n<li>Feeling breathless<\/li>\n<li>Feeling a lot more tired than usual<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even if you have any or all of these symptoms, it\u2019s most likely that you won\u2019t have bowel cancer, but it\u2019s still worth checking.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How can I look after my bowel health?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A healthy gut starts with the choices we make every day. From what you eat to how active you are, simple changes can help keep your bowels in good working order \u2013 and reduce your risk of conditions like bowel cancer.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Fill up on fibre \u2013 many of us fail to eat enough fibre to ensure healthy bowels \u2013 beans, wholemeal bread, fruit, vegetables and brown rice all help us towards the 30g of fibre a day we need.<\/li>\n<li>Drink plenty of water &#8211; It&#8217;s important to keep drinking, especially water. It encourages the passage of waste through your digestive system and helps soften poo. Without fluid, the fibre cannot do its job and you&#8217;ll get constipation.
